Caught In a Loop

There is such broad range of game making tools available that it can be a bit overwhelming for anyone looking to get started. Thankfully, it turns out you don’t have to pick just one!

Some of the more robust platforms like Unity are incredible in what they are capable of, but the interface can be very intimidating for beginners. More simplified tools like Gamefroot utilize prefab libraries that make it super straightforward to jump right into game-making. As a quick trial, I decided to try building a self-contained level that exists as a loop! The only thing the player is able to do is make their way around the map until they cycle right back to where they started — or fall into the abyss!

This quirky little mini-game was a fun experiment that plays with a character caught in a broken space-time continuum and only took a few minutes to put together. Gamefroot is a great option for new game-makers-in-the-making who just want to get something playable built without investing in hours of tutorial walk-throughs.
